History
In 1945 a small Lansing group incorporated as North High Street Church of God. The group included Myrtle Jones, Grace Barker, Olive Heyhoe, and Ada Street. While little is known of the first ten years, in 1957 the pastor, L.D. Wright, hosted a revival with Dale Curtis, nephew of F.G. Smith. That revival brought the Rev. Walter Ogden and numerous family members into the fellowship.
The North High Street congregation, in cooperation with the McKinney Street Church of God in Mt. Pleasant, built a camp ground near Remus and hosted an annual camp meeting from 1958 into the 1960's. Pastor Wright later resigned and moved to Remus to build a local congregation at the camp grounds.
Under Walter Ogden’s leadership, the High Street property sold and the group acquired the current DeWitt property. While building the new chapel at 11733 U.S. Highway 27, the congregation worshiped in the new DeWitt fire station on State Road, later building a new parsonage. Richard Hines came from Virginia, following Ogden’s death in 1976, leading the way in adding a new sanctuary and Sunday School wing.
In 1995, the church called Linda Ogden Moffitt. She currently serves as Senior pastor, following years of service as Associate Pastor.
